Buffalo Mountain features 8 miles of hiking trails near Johnson City, TN.
"From Highway 181, take the Elizabethton/ETSU exit and head west towards the campus on University Parkway. On your left you will see first a golf course, and then a fire station. Between the golf course and the fire station, turn left onto Cherokee Road. Continue on Cherokee Road until you see a school on your right where you'll turn left on Lone Oak Drive. Follow this road to the top of the mountain where, at the apex, you'll see a sign for ATV parking. Park in the ATV lot. I've never had any problems leaving a car here, but I would be weary on night rides. From the parking lot you have two options (actually more but these two are easy to explain), which are Mud Hollow and Blue trail.
